  • 98% of Brevard County's schools are A or B Schools. 77 schools receiving an A.      

  •  All 12 BPS middle schools are A schools, five consecutive years. 

  • 54 of 57 elementary schools are A schools.

  • District GPA is 3.8, earning a grade of A by the FL Dept. of Education for the sixth consecutive years.

  • BPS Graduation Rate:  93.3%  (2nd highest in the state) - State Average is 75.4%

  • BPS Drop Out Rate:  0.7 % (4th lowest in the state) - State Average is 2.6%

  • 2007 Governor's Sterling Award Winner.  Brevard is only the 2nd district in Florida to receive this award, and the first to receive it since 1993.

  • 2009 applied for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

  • Brevard's average reading scores are 12 to 21 scale score points above the state average.

  • Brevard's average math scores are 9 to 25 scale score points above the state average.

  • Brevard has been awarded the Meritorious Budget Award for Excellence by the association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

  • Brevard has, for the ninth consecutive year, received the Association of School Business Officials International's (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) and Government Financial Officers Association's (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

  • BPS is recognized as 1 of 50 AARP Best Employers in the United States; the only school district so honored. BPS has received this award for five consecutive years.

  • BPS is by far first in the number of Music Demonstration Schools in the state, with 23 of the 28 schools in Florida.

  •  Dual Graduates:  In 2009, 76 BPS students simultaneously earned high school diplomas and A.A. degrees.

BPS Named Among the “Best Communities for Music Education”

in the Nation

Brevard Public Schools has been recognized as a national leader in music education. The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation has announced the results of its ninth annual “Best Communities for Music Education” survey, which includes 110 school districts across the U.S. BPS is featured on the list, one of only three districts in Florida to be honored.


Brevard County School Board Hailed as Leader in Florida Arts Education

The Brevard County School Board has been named the 2008 honoree for the School Board Award from the Arts for a Complete Education/Florida Alliance for Arts Education (ACE/FAAE). The School Board Award is the highest honor conferred by the Alliance and recognizes Florida School Boards that have implemented and sustained exemplary arts education programs that provide a creative learning environment for outstanding student achievement.


Brevard Public Schools Selected by AARP as Best Employer for Workers over 50 for the Third Straight Year - BPS the Only School District to Receive National Honor

For the fourth consecutive year, Brevard Public Schools has been named by AARP as one of the Best Employers for Workers Over 50, ranking 13th in the nation of the top 50 companies and organizations.  BPS is the only school district in the nation to be recognized. The national award was established by AARP to honor employers showing a commitment to an aging workforce. For 2007, BPS ranked 14th among the top 50 employers identified by AARP.


Ten Brevard Schools Named as Statewide Music Demonstration Schools for 2008-11

The Florida Department of Education has awarded 10 Brevard schools the prestigious Music Demonstration School (MDS) title for 2008-2011, listing them among the best schools in the state for music instruction. This year, Brevard added three new MDS sites, and re-designated seven sites. Brevard now has a total of 23 of the 31 Music Demonstration Schools statewide and all five honorable mention sites, leading the state in this program.
